Hatha Yoga classes work on aligning and calming your body, mind and spirit whilst building strength and flexibility

Hatha is a general category that includes most yoga styles. It simply refers to the practice of physical yoga postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayama). These help to bring peace to the mind and body, and prepare physically for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation.

The word “Hatha” can be translated in two ways. It can firstly mean “willful” or “forceful”, or the yoga of activity. Although it is actually considered to be a gentle approach, this was considered strong when compared to the practices of meditation. And secondly it is translated as the “sun” (ha) and the “moon” (tha) which indicates the balance gained by performing Hatha yoga.
